IFE LONDON 2009 - Review
Despite little optimistic economic perspectives, the IFE2009 Fairs in London shined with brilliance 1.200 exhibitors from 83 countries presented the most recent trends in the food industry, during the international food and drinks fairs IFE2009, which took place at the Exhibition Centre Excel in London on 15-18 March this year.Visitors of this year’s IFE2009 fairs did not leave any doubts, that this is the leading type of event in the food and drinks industry in Great Britain. Despite the global recession, an atmosphere of great optimism prevailed at the fairs.
Traditionally, already at the fairs there was no lack of Polish representatives of production and service companies (28), which stalls were located in both exhibition halls, both on the Polish “islands”, as well as independently.
The largest – two Polish „islands” were prepared by the company MAXPOL from Warsaw, from which one had an “open space” form, which enabled foreign contractors to visit a few companies at one, very spacious and tastefully prepared stall. At this stall, one could visit among others such producers as: Solidarność, Tago, Iglotex, Makarony Polskie, Polmos Bielsko-Biała, Vitpol, Natur-Vit and Tropicana.
Our publisher’s stall was also located on the island, where an English magazine “Food from Poland” was available and found much interest among guests visiting the stall, as well as other visitors. The second Polish “island” located in another exhibition hall did not have an “open space” form, and included exhibitors such as: Herbapol Lublin, Społem Kielce, Sądecki Bartnik, Coffee Service, Złotokłos, Melvit, Pifo. What we liked most out of the independent stalls was the one prepared by Zakłady Mięsne “Henryk Kania” [Meat Factory]. It was prepared very tastefully and what is important, it emphasised tradition and high quality of Polish meats. The interest of visitors was very high.
The stall of the Polish Embassy in London was also at the fairs, where products within the campaign “Discover great food” were promoted. The campaign under the patronage of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, which aim is to inform of the high quality of food products, was promoted during the fairs among others by the State vice-secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development – Andrzej Zalewski, who personally visited all Polish exhibitors at IFE, informing of the project, at the same time granting each of them an informational package concerning the campaign “Discover great food”. The attraction of the fairs was a show - cooking presentation prepared by Karol Okrasa.
The summary of the promotion of the campaign “Discover great food” was the evening meeting at the Polish Embassy in London, in which many Polish and foreign guests participated.
